About our preschool
St Philip's Preschool was established over 30 years ago in Upper Stratton and we have been delivering high-quality care and education ever since. We work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop while offering a service that promotes equality and values diversity.
St Philip's follows the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum.
Setting
We are based in the church hall behind St Philip's Church. Our large, bright playroom is home to a wide range of activities for children of all abilities
to enjoy, such as a messy area, a home corner — and plenty of toys! The set-up is always changing to encourage the children's imaginations and cognitive development, and our friendly staff members always keen to join in reading stories or singing songs.
Our bird watching window offers a close-up view of our surrounding nature. The children are always curious and excited to learn about the different birds that visit our feeders. We even have our own resident squirrel family!
We have an enclosed outside space that can be enjoyed in all seasons, by balancing on our wooden bridge, playing in the sand-pits or splashing in the water trays. We also have vegetable planters where the children help to grow carrots, radishes and more!
Activities
We believe that every child should have access to books, so we operate a lending library where each child can borrow a new book to read every week.
"Dancing Hayley" from HW Dance visits the preschool on a bi-weekly basis and provides an engaging dance session for the children. This activity is made possible by our fundraising efforts and is a big hit!
Fundraising
Bag2School is the UK's leading textile recycler and school fundraiser. They support nurseries, playgroups and schools all over the country.
Our seasonal ice-cream van comes to the preschool on a weekly basis during the summer months. Franco kindly donates a percentage of his takings to the preschool.
